"Not currently," Tony said, crossing towards the X-Wing, although he didn't think it necessary to pull Barnes away or anything. It wasn't like he could do anything do it, and he could sympathize with the enthusiasm.

It wasn't like he was messing with something that actually counted as Tony's stuff. (Although he did partially think of everything in the scrapyard that way, to variable extent.)

The answer was slightly a dodge, too. He hadn't not thought about getting the thing in working order. He tinkered from time to time. Wondered about the FTL capabilities it presumably had, since it could do it in the films.
